Dear Grade One Parents:

I am so pleased to be chosen as your child’s teacher.  I know God has a purpose in bringing us together.  I pray that each of us will grow and be blessed as a result of our shared Grade One year.  I am also excited about the opportunity to work a second year with Mrs. Andrea Penner, who will be teaching on Thursdays.  This will be my seventh year of teaching Grade One at MEI Abbotsford.  Previously I taught a variety of grades at MEI/VCS Chilliwack, with the four years in the Kindergarten classroom. 

To give you a little background information, I am originally from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, but moved to BC because of a job offer after two years of teaching at Woodstock School in India. Soon after arriving in BC, I met my future husband Gerry (“Ger” for short).  We married in August of 1998 and moved from Abbotsford to Mission two years later.  I enjoy reading, hiking, traveling, and being involved in our local church.  We have no children (I get my “kid fix” in class), but are proud dog owners of a Bichon Frise named Jessie.

I will be teaching all subjects except Social Studies and Art (although I will slip some Art in periodically). 

Your help and involvement is invaluable to me.
